Feng Zhang is a Core Member at the Broad Institute, an investigator at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT, and the W. M. Keck Career Decelopment Professor at MIT. His lab develops molecular technologies and applications for interrogating biological systems, with an emphasis on the nervous system and its diseases. He is widely recognized for playing a central role in the development of technologies such as optogenetics and genome editing using CRISPR-Cas9. He has also played a leading role in making molecular technology reagents and know-how openly accessible.
